Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account details: your name and email address, and a phone number if you add one.
• Orders and payments: what you bought, when, and the payment status. When you pay with bKash we store the Transaction ID (TrxID) and the bKash number you paid from, so we can match your payment. We never ask for or store your bKash PIN; receipts show your number partly hidden.
• Library activity: downloads of your books (time, browser and IP address) and your last page in the online reader, so we can protect your files, enforce download limits and bring you back to where you stopped.
• Your personal copy: PDFs you download or read online carry your name, email address and order number on each page. This marks the copy as licensed to you.
• Email preferences: whether you agreed to receive offers, and when.
• Favorites: the books you save to your favorites list. Others only ever see a total count per book, never who saved it.
• If you publish with us or are a partner: your author name, bio and photo (shown publicly on your author page), the bKash number we pay you on, your phone number, your TIN if you give it, and a record of your earnings and payouts.

How we use it

• To create your account, deliver your books and keep them in your library.
• To send receipts and important account messages.
• To send occasional offers — only if you opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
• To prevent fraud and misuse of downloads.

Who we share it with

Only the services we need to run Ubookshop: Vercel (website hosting), Neon (database), Cloudflare (file storage and our email addresses), Resend (sending email) and, if you sign in with Google, Google. Payments go directly from your bKash or Nagad account to ours; bKash and Nagad process them under their own terms. We do not sell your personal data.

Authors and partners

• Authors see sales totals, copies sold and approved reviews for their own books. They never see buyers' names, emails, phone numbers or payment details. Partners see their commission per order and book, without any buyer details.
• Your bKash number and TIN are used only to pay you and for our accounts; they are never shown on your public author page.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and library for as long as your account is open. Order and payment records are kept for 6 years to meet tax and accounting rules.

Your choices

You can see and correct your details on your Account page, and ask us to access or delete your personal data by writing to support@ubookshop.com. You can also request deletion from your Account page. Deleting your account removes your library access; order records we must legally keep are anonymised (your name and email are removed and your bKash number is partly hidden).

Cookies

We use essential cookies only: to keep you signed in, and to remember your cart and any coupon code. If we add analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
